Da'wah Center Organizes Academic Lecture on "Chomsky's Generative Grammar"

As part of the “Pulpit of the Da‘wah Center and the College of Islamic Studies for Knowledge and Guidance” program, held under the slogan “Knowledge that guides hearts… Guidance that enlightens minds,” the Da'wah Center in cooperation with the College of Islamic Studies organized a distinguished lecture on Monday, November 3, 2025, titled: “Chomsky's Generative Grammar - A New Perspective on the Acquisition and Learning of the Arabic Language.”

The lecture was delivered by Dr. Najima Al-Radwani, and witnessed wide participation and strong engagement from university students and those interested in linguistic studies, who attended the event via Zoom at 10:00 p.m. Makkah time.

Dr. Al-Radwani presented a contemporary and innovative scholarly perspective on applying the principles of generative grammar-developed by renowned linguist Noam Chomsky-to the structure and features of the Arabic language. She highlighted how this approach contributes to deepening linguistic understanding, explaining mechanisms of language acquisition, and opening new avenues for enhancing Arabic language teaching methodologies.

The lecture was marked by high interactivity, with participants engaging in rich discussions and posing direct questions-reflecting the program’s approach that combines scientific presentation with active participation and aims to foster intellectual and spiritual development for building an informed and conscious Muslim personality.

The event comes within the joint efforts of the Da'wah Center and the College of Islamic Studies to present an authentic methodology that blends traditional Islamic knowledge with contemporary linguistic and intellectual thought, featuring distinguished scholars devoted to guiding minds and nurturing souls.

The university administration affirmed the importance of such programs in enriching the academic and intellectual life of its students and renewed its call for all to follow the upcoming sessions on the journey of “Knowledge and Guidance” offered by the Da'wah Center at the Islamic University of Minnesota.
