Quality and Development Unit Organizes Specialized Course on Curriculum Development Foundations
The Quality and Development Unit at the Islamic University of Minnesota (Main Center), in coordination with the Curriculum Unit, organized a specialized training course on Saturday evening, November 22, 2025, titled “Foundations of Curriculum Development.” This initiative is part of the university’s ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of academic programs and advance the curriculum framework according to the latest educational standards.
The course was delivered by Dr. Nadia Mohammed Zaher Al-Ghazouli, former Director of the National Center for Curriculum Development at the Directorate of Education in Damascus, Syrian Arab Republic. She addressed a set of scientific and practical foundations for curriculum development, covering concepts of systematic planning, designing learning outcomes, and aligning academic content with quality and accreditation requirements, thereby contributing to improved learning outcomes and enhanced educational effectiveness.
The sessions were managed by Dr. Fatima Jumaa Al-Wahsh, Director of the Quality and Development Unit at the university, who emphasized the importance of such specialized programs in supporting the shift toward quality-based education and institutional excellence.
The course was held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. via the Zoom platform and witnessed significant attendance and engagement from faculty members and professionals interested in academic and educational development. Dedicated time for discussions and scientific contributions enriched the course content and reinforced its practical applications.
At the conclusion of the program, participants were granted certificates accredited by the Islamic University of Minnesota, reflecting the university’s commitment to documenting its training programs and encouraging staff to actively participate in continuous professional development, ultimately contributing to higher education quality and improved learning outcomes.
