Appointment of Riham Nussair as Head of Department of Disaster and Strategic Risk

The Vice President of the Islamic University of Minnesota, Dr. Omar Ahmed Al-Maqrami, issued a decision appointing Dr. Riham Arshid Sami Nussair as the Head of the Department of Disaster and Strategic Risk in the College of Development Studies, succeeding Dr. Elham Moatasem Al-Bashir, effective Monday, March 17, 2025.
Doctor Riham holds a Ph.D. in Human Resource Management from the Malaysian Islamic Science University (2024), a Master’s degree from Jadara University in Jordan (2018), as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the same university (2013), and a diploma in Accounting from Al-Hesn University College (2003).
In terms of awards, Dr. Riham received the Academic Excellence Award and the Faculty Award from the Malaysian Islamic Science University in recognition of her academic achievements. She was also a member of the scientific committee for the International Conference on Humanities and Social Sciences held in London in April 2025.
Dr. Riham has extensive academic and research experience, currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the Islamic University of Minnesota since October 2024, and as the Editor-in-Chief of the North Africa Scientific Publishing Journal since August 2024. Additionally, she holds the position of Public Relations and Training Coordinator at the International Board of Human Development Scholars since November 2018, and served as an Administrative Secretary in the Deanship of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies at Al-Jadara University from 2015 to 2017.
In a congratulatory message, Dr. Musab Al-Hashimi, Associate Professor in the Department of Disaster and Strategic Risk, praised Dr. Riham’s efforts and dedication, emphasizing that her appointment reflects the university administration's trust in her academic and administrative capabilities.
Moreover, Dr. Youssef Bani Younis, Dean of the College of Development Studies, congratulated Dr. Riham, expressing his wishes for her success in working collaboratively with her colleagues.
In her response to the appointment decision, Dr. Riham expressed her gratitude to the university administration for the trust placed in her, affirming that this responsibility represents both a challenge and an opportunity. She emphasized her commitment to enhancing the department's role and expressed her eagerness to collaborate with the team.
The university also extended its heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Dr. Elham Moatasem Al-Bashir for her distinguished efforts and valuable contributions in enhancing knowledge and developing curricula in the Department of Disaster and Strategic Risk.
