Department of Holds Regular Meeting in Preparation for the First Semester

As part of the intensive preparations for the start of the first semester of the academic year 2025 - 2026, the Department of Marketing at the College of Economics and Business at the Islamic University of Minnesota, main center, held its regular meeting on Tuesday evening, June 24, 2025, chaired by Dr. Khalid Basreeda, in the presence of faculty members and the Director of the Quality and Development Unit at the college, at 9:00 PM Mecca time.
Dr. Khalid Basreeda opened the meeting with a welcoming speech, expressing his happiness at the joining of new faculty members and emphasizing that the upcoming phase requires further collaboration and integration to achieve academic and professional excellence for the department. The meeting agenda included key topics that outlined the operational plan for the new semester, starting with an introduction to the academic institution through a presentation about the university, college, and department, alongside highlighting the key achievements of the foundational phase.
The attendees discussed the academic system and policies by reviewing the approved academic policies for 2025, stressing the necessity of adhering to them to ensure the quality of educational outcomes. The "Journal of the College of Economics and Business" was introduced, and there was a call for the submission of quality research to enhance scientific activity within the department and college.
Regarding the roles of faculty members, the academic and professional responsibilities assigned to them were reviewed, including rights, duties, and performance development mechanisms. The meeting also addressed the course schedule and assignments, presenting the distribution of undergraduate courses and self-learning content, while emphasizing the importance of adhering to the approved arrangements and educational assignments in line with students' realities.
The "University Textbook Project" was another topic of discussion; the head of the department praised the efforts of the committee responsible for authoring the book "Principles of Marketing," specifically thanking Dr. Saeed Husseinoon, the committee chair, and emphasizing the need to complete the project according to the established timeline. The meeting underscored the importance of activating academic advising and student activities, calling on faculty members to nominate those they believe have the capability to lead these tasks.
The meeting witnessed several constructive interventions from faculty members, which included discussions and inquiries that were answered transparently, reflecting a spirit of teamwork and shared decision-making.
