College of Economics Holds Extended Meeting with Students
The College of Economics and Business Administration at the Islamic University of Minnesota (Main Center) organized an extended meeting with students on Friday, November 7, 2025, chaired by Dean Assistant Professor Dr. Shireen Mamoun, following the start of the second semester of the academic year 1447 AH – 2025/2026. The Dean opened the meeting with a welcoming address, expressing her appreciation for the students’ commitment and trust, while offering a special welcome to new students, emphasizing the college’s dedication to providing a stimulating educational environment that integrates academic and practical experiences.
During the meeting, the Dean outlined the academic plan for the upcoming semester, highlighting the college’s vision, mission, and objectives, as well as the administrative structure including the College Council, department heads, deputies, and secretaries. Key academic guidelines were discussed, including class attendance, course requirements, grading procedures, and absence and exclusion policies, with an emphasis on the importance of student adherence to ensure the smooth and high-quality operation of the educational process.
Department heads and their deputies were given the opportunity to address the students, stressing the importance of discipline, student responsibility, and their pivotal role in improving learning outcomes and fostering a culture of accountability within the campus. Students were also able to ask questions and provide feedback, with the Dean and faculty providing clarifications and responses to academic and administrative inquiries. The meeting concluded at 9:30 PM Mecca time, in an atmosphere of engagement and collaborative spirit.
In a related development, the college held a prior extended meeting of the College Council and faculty members on Thursday, October 30, 2025, chaired by the Dean. The Dean opened the meeting by acknowledging the efforts made during the first semester, emphasizing the importance of teamwork, adherence to academic quality standards, and the activation of continuous assessment tools to enhance educational outcomes and administrative efficiency.
The discussions covered mechanisms to improve the educational process, monitor the implementation of study plans, update curricula, organize class schedules, ensure fair distribution of academic tasks, support students through academic and advisory services, and promote scientific and research activities alongside knowledge development initiatives. The meeting concluded with the Dean expressing appreciation to faculty members for their efforts and calling for continued cooperation to maintain high-quality education and achieve the university’s strategic objectives.
Prior to these meetings, an initial preparatory meeting for the College Council and their deputies was held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. The Dean welcomed participants, expressed her gratitude for their efforts, and specifically acknowledged the College Vice Dean and Head of the Economics Department, Dr. Hiyam Al-Zuabi. The meeting addressed academic and organizational preparations, reinforced the importance of adhering to academic standards, clarified faculty responsibilities, and emphasized the completion of lectures according to the approved study plan. Discussion was also opened for department heads and deputies to present their input, review preparations for the upcoming semester, and propose development initiatives. The meeting concluded with the Dean reaffirming the commitment to teamwork to enhance the quality of education and serve students effectively.
