Dean of Faculty Affairs Emphasizes Strict Adherence to Procedures

Islamic University – Minnesota

Dr. Mrawan Zayed Bataineh, Dean of Faculty Affairs at the Islamic University of Minnesota, sent a letter to department heads, highlighting the importance of faculty members' effectiveness in their academic duties, including teaching, meetings, and supervision.

In the letter, the dean alerted department heads to their responsibility, in coordination with the administrative affairs officer, in cases of faculty ineffectiveness. He outlined the required procedure, which involves personal communication with the colleague to understand the reasons for their lack of effectiveness.

Bataineh stressed the importance of not taking any action against the colleague without first drafting a letter detailing the situation of the ineffective colleague and sending it to the dean's office. He confirmed that the dean's office would take necessary actions, including the possibility of sending a "thank you letter with termination" if it is determined that the colleague does not wish to continue at the university.

The dean also emphasized the necessity of adhering to these procedures as a matter of fairness and appreciation for the contributions of faculty members. He noted that colleagues in such situations may also be eligible for a certificate of experience according to university regulations. Bataineh concluded his letter by expressing gratitude and appreciation to the department heads for their efforts.
