Nourhan Salama Appointed Dean of Faculty Affairs

The Islamic University of Minnesota's Vice President, Dr. Omar Ahmed Al-Maqrami, issued a decision to appoint Dr. Nourhan Salama as the Dean of Faculty Affairs, succeeding Dr. Marwan Zayed Bataineh, on Wednesday, December 25, 2024.

Dr. Nourhan Ibrahim Abdulmoneim Salama, born in Al-Buhaira, Egypt, in 1991, is considered one of the distinguished academics. She earned her Ph.D. from the Faculty of Arts at Alexandria University in 2020, her Master's degree in 2017, and her Bachelor's degree from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Sultan Qaboos University in 2012.

She has several scholarly publications, including "The Titles of Eastern and Andalusian Figures Through the Travel Dictionary of Abu Tahir Al-Salafi Al-Isfahani" and "The Titles of Andalusian Figures Inside and Outside Their Lands During the Umayyad State," both published by Dar Al-Ma'arifah Al-Jami'iyah.

Nourhan currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of History and Archaeology at the College of Arts and Humanities at the Islamic University of Minnesota. She is also the Director of the Reporting Unit and a member of the Curriculum and Plans Committee. Previously, she held the position of Dean of the College of Archaeology and Heritage at Al-Zaytoonah International University for Virtual Education.

In her comments on her appointment, Dr. Nourhan expressed her gratitude to the Vice President, the Deputy Vice President, and the former Dean for the trust they have placed in her, appreciating the support from deans, department heads, and faculty members.

For his part, Dr. Marwan Zayed Bataineh, who announced his intention to step down, thanked everyone who supported him during his tenure, expressing pride in the achievements made over the year. He emphasized that this decision is part of a rotation of positions and stated his continued support for the university's academic mission.

Celebrations were also held to express gratitude towards Dr. Marwan, where university officials, faculty members, and staff presented him with messages of thanks and appreciation, reflecting the high regard in which he is held by the university community.
