Second Cultural Evening at the Islamic University of Minnesota

Second Cultural Evening at the Islamic University of Minnesota

The Graduate Affairs Deanship at the Islamic University of Minnesota, under the supervision of Dean Hind Saif Al-Nasr Ashmawi, organized the second cultural evening on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 9 PM Mecca time.

The evening began with an opening speech by Dr. Hind Ashmawi, who presented a beautiful recitation from the Holy Quran. After that, alumnus Dr. Hazem Al-Nahas delivered a lecture titled "The Art of Setting and Achieving Goals," emphasizing the importance of goal setting as the first step towards success. He mentioned a study conducted on 100 students at Harvard University, which revealed that only 10 of them had written goals, and they achieved 96% of their wealth after ten years.

Dr. Al-Nahas also cited the example of a pilot who must accurately determine his flight path, stressing the importance of education in guiding individuals toward their goals. He explained that ignorance or fear of failure are reasons that prevent many from setting their goals. He outlined the steps for goal setting, starting with the desire for success, moving on to writing down the goals, and concluding with creating a written action plan.

Following Dr. Hazem's lecture, Dr. Hind Ashmawi delivered a lecture titled "Keys to Success," where she emphasized the importance of trusting in God as a fundamental step, noting that only a few truly grasp this concept. She addressed the significance of good planning and perseverance in achieving goals, explaining that failure is merely a step towards success.
