Department of Islamic Studies in English Holds Meeting to Discuss Various Agenda Items

  

The Department of Islamic Studies in English, affiliated with the College of Islamic Studies, held a meeting chaired by Dr. Manal Mustafa, the department's chairperson. Several issues were discussed during the meeting according to the agenda.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Manal welcomed all the faculty members in the department, especially the new doctors who recently joined. She expressed gratitude to the university's vice president, Dr. Omar Al-Maqrami, the dean of the college, Dr. Abdulrazzaq Al-Bakri, and the administrative affairs officer at the college, Ms. Amal, for their support and cooperation. She also thanked the control department for their efforts in organizing the work and emphasized the importance of evaluating efforts and setting deadlines.

Dr. Manal commended the professors for submitting syllabi on time and adhering to the specified curricula, while allowing for the addition of supplementary books to support the curricula. She emphasized the need for continuous communication within the department's WhatsApp group, describing it as a "communication bridge" with the administration. She encouraged everyone to interact with administrative directives and participate in congratulatory and condolence messages shared in the group to enhance the connections among faculty members.

The department chairperson addressed the issue of high absenteeism during the first week of classes and stressed the importance of encouraging and motivating students to attend. She proposed adding activities such as small quizzes in each lecture to incentivize students and enhance their engagement in the lessons.

Dr. Manal urged the faculty members to participate in the peer-reviewed college journal and submit their research papers and scientific articles to support it. She also highlighted the importance of the department's development committee and encouraged members to contribute their ideas and visions.

The meeting concluded with congratulations to Professors Taha Al-Jawhari and Ahmed Al-Khaledi on obtaining their doctoral degrees. The floor was then opened for members to ask questions, provide feedback, and share comments before reaching specific conclusions and solutions.
