Scientific Symposium Explores Muslim Individual's Response to Western Secularism and Atheism

The Training, Development, and Community Programs Center, in collaboration with the Department of Islamic Studies in English at the Islamic University of Minnesota, held a scientific seminar entitled "The Behavior of the Individual Muslim in the face of Western Secularism and Atheism."

The seminar was conducted via the ZOOM platform by Dr. Fatima Jumaa Al-Wahsh, the Technical Director of the Training, Development, and Community Programs Center. The seminar was attended by a group of distinguished scholars. Dr. Manal Mustafa, the Head of the Department of Islamic Studies in English, began by delivering an introduction on atheism and Western secularism, their methods of dissemination in the Arab world, and how to counter the intellectual attacks (atheism and secularism) that target vulnerable individuals.

Then, Dr. Mohammed Al-Shaqeeri, a faculty member in the Department of Islamic Studies in English, delivered a lecture on the objectives of atheistic and Western secular ideas in influencing the Muslim society. Dr. Ayed Awadh Al-Juboor, the Mufti of the Hashemite Authority in Jordan, spoke about the effects of atheistic and Western secular ideas on the individual, as well as on the Islamic, Arab, and Western societies.

At the end of the seminar, Mr. Mu'tasem Faez, the General Manager of the Training, Development, and Community Programs Center, read out the seminar's recommendations. The seminar lasted for two hours, from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Tuesday, April 30th, 2024.
