Faculty Meeting of the Department of Islamic Studies (English)
Dr. Manal Mustafa, Head of the Department of Islamic Studies (English) at the College of Islamic Studies at the Islamic University of Minnesota, Main Campus, held a meeting with the department's faculty members on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Manal Mustafa welcomed all members, especially the new members who recently joined the department. She thanked everyone for completing the exam models and sending them on time, emphasizing the importance of attending the exams with the students and staying close by.
Dr. Mustafa reminded the members to adhere to the schedules of the audio rooms and try not to postpone them. She directed them to improve their performance in delivering lectures, praising the outstanding performance of some professors. She also commended the role of advanced and engaging technologies that keep students from missing lectures and encourage them to follow them, which leads to a decrease in absenteeism.
Dr. Manal reminded the members to treat the students well, as most of them are academics in other fields, university professors, and hold prestigious positions. They should not be treated as beginners or children with blame, reprimand, and punishment. This, according to Dr. Manal, causes problems, the least of which is filing a complaint, and may lead to the student leaving and stopping their studies. In this context, Dr. Manal stressed the need to pay attention to graduate students and treat them as colleagues of the professors, as this encourages the student to choose their professor to supervise their thesis in the future.
Dr. Manal Mustafa concluded the meeting by thanking everyone and urging them to perform well and continue to excel in the department. She wished them success and progress. The meeting ended after several comments from the professors, who expressed their happiness with the meeting and its results.
