Al-Bakri Chairs Two Separate Meetings

The Dean of the College of Islamic Studies at the Islamic University of Minnesota, Associate Professor Abdul Razzaq Al-Bakri, held a meeting for the members of the internal promotions committee on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 10:00 PM Mecca time.

At the beginning of the meeting, the dean welcomed the committee members and expressed his appreciation for its establishment, clarifying its objectives and the reasons for its creation. He emphasized the importance of identifying faculty members eligible for promotion and having research evaluated by specialists within the college, in preparation for recommending deserving candidates for promotion to the higher promotions committee.

Al-Bakri pointed out that the goal of the meeting was to listen to the committee members, explaining that the higher promotions committee at the university bears the major burden of promotions, which leads to delays due to the time consumed in evaluations. He confirmed that the committee members would be nominated by department heads, with each department represented by a member who would handle its promotion procedures.

The dean also praised the committee members, stressing their expertise in this area, and clarified that the purpose of the internal promotions committee is to oversee the evaluation process.
