Meeting of Department of Theology and Contemporary Issues

Professor Emad Al-Deen Abdu Al-Ajeeli, Head of the Department of Theology and Contemporary Issues at the Islamic University of Minnesota, held an extensive meeting for the faculty members of the department on Monday, May 4, 2025, at 10 PM Mecca time.
The meeting aimed to evaluate the educational process during the summer semester and prepare for the first semester of the new academic year 2025-2026. Attendees discussed several vital topics related to enhancing academic performance and the quality of education within the department.
In his opening remarks, Professor Al-Ajeeli expressed his strong confidence in the faculty members, praising their dedication and commitment. He stated, "You are all deserving of trust and appreciation, and I say this openly before the administration and university leadership."
The meeting covered several key issues, including the necessity of adhering to lecture schedules and providing effective supervision of academic theses. The participants also discussed the fair and transparent distribution of course materials for the upcoming academic year, as well as mechanisms for receiving faculty preferences regarding subjects and suitable times, while considering rotation and alleviating the burden on those who taught during the summer semester. Several proposals for developing curricula to align with scientific advancements and enhance academic excellence were presented.
Additionally, the meeting addressed the supplementary research file for the master's program, where concerns were raised about theses being supervised outside the department. Attendees emphasized the need to reassess this process, deeming it academically inappropriate due to the absence of specialists.
The meeting concluded with several recommendations, including a serious commitment to lectures and academic supervision, enhancing transparency in schedule distribution, addressing repeated and unjustified absences from teaching, and implementing necessary procedural actions. The importance of cooperation and coordination among faculty members to serve the interests of both the department and students was also highlighted.
At the end of the meeting, the department head expressed his special gratitude to Dean Dr. Abdul Razak Al-Bakri for his continuous support and engagement in overcoming challenges. He also thanked the attending faculty for their constructive participation, emphasizing the significance of teamwork and collaboration within the department.
