Meeting of Curriculum Committee in Department of Islamic Studies in English

Doctor Manal Mustafa, Head of the Department of Islamic Studies in English at the Islamic University of Minnesota, held a meeting with the curriculum committee on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at 5:30 PM Mecca time.
Dr. Manal opened the meeting with a welcoming speech, emphasizing the importance of reviewing previous study courses, which were described as "sometimes simplified and sometimes out of the appropriate academic context for university level." She noted that this was the "second meeting of this committee," reflecting the university and college's commitment to curriculum development.
During the meeting, the committee reviewed what had been accomplished in preparing the courses and discussed the plan for reviewing the doctrines curriculum. Steps for designing and evaluating the courses were approved, and the head of the department presented the general outlines of the work plan, highlighting the importance of adherence to it.
Dr. Samir Fareedi confirmed that the committee had "almost completed the three courses for the doctrine curriculum." Committee members expressed their "full readiness to present the courses in the best form," affirming the importance of ensuring that the curricula are "authentic and contemporary, addressing current issues to serve our students and Islam."
The meeting concluded with several recommendations, including adherence to applying the university guide according to specified educational levels, accelerating the review of the three doctrine courses, unifying design methods and assessment strategies across all courses, and ensuring integration between the scientific and educational aspects.
Dr. Manal concluded the meeting by emphasizing the "importance of reviewing and scrutinizing the scientific formulations of the courses" and expressed her gratitude to all members for their efforts and constructive engagement.
