Al-Bakri Encourages Students to Seize Distance Learning Opportunities

Doctor Abdulrazeq Al-Bakri, Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies at the Islamic University of Minnesota, urged college students to take advantage of available study opportunities, especially with the availability of distance education, emphasizing that such opportunities may not come around often.
The dean's call came during a speech delivered to the students in a meeting held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 5:30 PM Mecca time. He stated, "These opportunities that come to you while you are at home or at work may not be repeated, so seize them."
At the beginning of the first semester of the new academic year, the dean welcomed the male and female students, highlighting the importance and virtue of knowledge. He stressed the necessity of commitment and discipline to achieve success and emphasized the importance of attending lectures on time and putting effort into beneficial academic pursuits.
The dean also noted the importance of respecting faculty and regulations, indicating that mutual respect is the foundation of the relationship between students and their professors. He encouraged students to engage in discussions and ask questions without hesitation, saying, "Do not leave room for incomplete information; instead, ask and strive to find the answer."
He urged students to complete all assignments given by faculty, emphasizing their significant role in stimulating thought and encouraging research. The dean clarified that the college offers a balanced curriculum based on authenticity and moderation, aiming to develop students who will carry the banner of knowledge in the future.
Before concluding his speech with prayers for the students' success, the dean urged them to collaborate with all departments within the college to enhance the educational process. He assured them that the dean's office is open for inquiries or feedback, stressing the importance of fulfilling their responsibilities before lodging any complaints.
