Department of Islamic Studies in English Holds Regular Meeting to Discuss Academic Affairs

The Department of Islamic Studies in English at the College of Islamic Studies, Islamic University of Minnesota – Main Center – held its regular meeting on Thursday, September 25, 2025, chaired by Dr. Manal Mostafa, Head of the Department, at 4:00 p.m. Makkah time, with the participation of the faculty members.

Dr. Mostafa opened the meeting by extending her gratitude to the University’s Vice President, Dr. Omar Al-Maqrami, the Dean of the College, Dr. Abdulrazaq, and Ms. Anisa Al-Zakari, the College’s Administrative Officer, for their continuous support and tangible efforts in strengthening the educational process.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Mostafa emphasized the importance of teamwork and the integration of academic efforts to serve students and achieve educational quality.

The discussions covered several key areas: monitoring lectures to ensure alignment with approved plans, adherence to submitting student assignments on time, and encouraging students to continue their academic progress. The meeting also addressed examination procedures, including the requirement to submit exam papers to the control office after thorough review, and faculty presence during exams to support students and ensure a smooth environment. Additionally, the department reviewed the distribution of courses for the upcoming semester to ensure fairness and academic quality, the preparation of teaching slides in line with the university’s standards, and the follow-up of graduate students through detailed supervisory reports on their progress and challenges. The completion of the departmental textbook within one month, with active contribution from all faculty members, was also stressed.

The meeting concluded with several recommendations, including: strict adherence to deadlines for student assignments, faculty presence during examinations to support students, completion of the departmental textbook within a month, cooperation in distributing courses, preparation of PowerPoint presentations for each course according to the university’s template, and requiring graduate supervisors to submit detailed reports on student progress.

In closing, Dr. Mostafa expressed her appreciation for the efforts of faculty and administrative staff, affirming the department’s commitment to continuous development. The floor was then opened for faculty members to share their proposals to further enhance academic performance.
