Department of Qur’an Holds Regular Meeting

The Department of Qur’an and its Sciences at the College of Islamic Studies, Islamic University of Minnesota – Main Center – held its regular meeting on Saturday, November 22, 2025, chaired by Dr. Islam Abdelhamid El-Sayed, Head of the Department, and attended by the Dean of the College, Prof. Abdulrazeq Al-Bakri, along with faculty members, to review departmental matters and follow up on progress in preparing the university textbook.

Dr. Islam El-Sayed opened the meeting by welcoming the attendees and stressing the importance of the gathering in enhancing academic work and advancing the department’s performance.

The session included remarks by the College Dean, Prof. Abdulrazzaq Al-Bakri, who emphasized that the Head of Department is directly responsible for following up on departmental affairs and implementing university policies, while the Dean’s role remains supervisory without involvement in executive details.

Prof. Al-Bakri highlighted the need for adherence to administrative hierarchy, cooperation, and mutual respect, noting that the Head of Department represents the top of the administrative structure, and that any issues or suggestions should be addressed to him for appropriate action.

He also affirmed that work on the university textbook project is progressing well, calling on the assigned committee to thoroughly review any comments to ensure high-quality content.

In a related context, the Dean urged faculty members to maintain teamwork and a balanced approach when addressing notes or errors, stating that mistakes in lectures are natural and should be handled constructively, while affirming that there is no deficiency in the performance of any department member.

The meeting concluded with an extensive discussion on mechanisms for producing a university textbook that reflects the department’s academic standards in terms of content, scholarly quality, and organization, with emphasis on the collective responsibility of faculty members to achieve this academic goal.
