Center for Latin American Studies Hosts Writer Amal Al-Khawaja

Under the patronage of the Vice President of the Islamic University of Minnesota, Dr. Omar Al-Maqrami, the Center for Latin American Studies, affiliated with the College of Arts and Humanities, organized a rich literary lecture on the evening of Monday, August 25, 2025, hosting the writer Amal Al-Khawaja.
Al-Khawaja presented a lecture titled “Tales of Absence… When Absence is the Hero of the Stories,” during which she shed light on profound human transformations and how absence turns into an influential presence that leaves its mark on both the narrative and reality.
The lecture, which was held at the university's main headquarters in Minnesota at 9:00 PM Mecca Time (1:00 PM Minnesota Time), focused on three main themes: (Literary Insights on the Human Experience), (An Energy of Optimism from the Heart of Absence), and (Interaction and Dialogue with Lovers of Narration and Writing).
The evening combined intellectual depth and inspiration, discussing how absence becomes a driving force for narrative and a tool to highlight deeper human experiences. This provided attendees with an opportunity for direct interaction with the guest speaker and to benefit from her rich literary expertise.
