Researcher Sonia Al-Sheikh Earns PhD in Quranic Studies

After commendable efforts, Egyptian researcher Sonia Salama Al-Sheikh has earned her PhD from the Department of Quranic Studies and Sciences, following the public defense of her thesis titled "The Pearl of the Foundling from the Ocean of Imam Abu Hayyan Al-Andalusi - Authored by the Scholar Ahmed bin Abdulqader bin Ahmed bin Maktoum Al-Qaisi - A Study and Verification from the Beginning of Surah Al-Ma'idah to the End of Surah Al-Hijr."

The defense session was held on Monday, April 28, 2025, at 10:00 PM Mecca time, under the supervision of the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at the main campus of the Islamic University of Minnesota - College of Islamic Studies.

The discussion committee comprised Dr. Emad Qadri Al-Ayadi, Head of the Manuscripts Department at the Islamic University of Minnesota, serving as the supervisor and rapporteur; Professor Dr. Abdulrazzaq Al-Bakri, Dean of the College of Islamic Studies, as the internal examiner; and Professor Dr. Muzahem Tariq Al-Mustafa, Dean of the College of Sharia and Law, as the external examiner.
