Researcher Rabie Abdulraouf Awarded Doctoral Degree in Tafsir

In a significant achievement, researcher Rabie Abdulraouf Abdulsalam Saleh has successfully defended his doctoral dissertation in Tafsir (Quranic interpretation) at the Islamic University of Minnesota. The public defense, organized by the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research in collaboration with the College of Islamic Studies' Department of the Holy Quran and its Sciences, marked the culmination of Saleh's academic journey.

Saleh's dissertation, titled "Derivative Interpretations in the Tafsir of Safwat al-Bayan by Sheikh Hassanein Makhlouf: An Applied Study on One Hundred Verses from Surah Al-Baqarah," delved into the concept of derivative interpretations within the renowned tafsir work authored by Sheikh Hassanein Makhlouf. Through an in-depth analysis of one hundred verses from Surah Al-Baqarah, Saleh applied the principles of derivative interpretations as elucidated by the esteemed scholar.

A distinguished scientific committee, comprising Professor Walid bin Idris Al-Menisi, the President of the Islamic University of Minnesota, who also supervised and chaired the committee, Dr. Emad Qadri Al-Ayadhi, a faculty member at the Islamic University of Minnesota serving as the internal examiner, and Professor Ziad Ahmed Al-Haj, the esteemed Head of the Department of Recitations at Jinan University in Lebanon, serving as the external examiner, meticulously assessed the methodology, findings, and contributions of Saleh's research.

The defense session, held on Monday, 17th of Rajab, 1445 AH (January 29, 2024), at 8:00 PM Mecca time, was conducted virtually via the Zoom application, ensuring the safety and convenience of all participants amidst the prevailing circumstances.
