Researcher Abdulkarim Issa Earns PhD in Islamic Banking

Researcher Abdulkareem Issa Ali has earned a PhD in Islamic Banking after successfully completing the public defense of his thesis titled "Sharia Audit of Islamic Banking Transactions: Its Importance and Mechanisms with Application to the Reality of Islamic Banks in Somalia - A Case Study of Salaam Somali Bank."

The defense session was held on Sunday, 16 Safar 1447 AH, corresponding to August 10, 2025, at 8 PM Mecca time, under the supervision of the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Deanship at the main center of the Islamic University of Minnesota, College of Economics and Business, Department of Economics and Islamic Banking.

The discussion committee consisted of Professor Waleed bin Idrees Al-Maneesi, President of the Islamic University of Minnesota, who served as the supervisor and rapporteur; Dr. Fahd Ahmed Abdulatif Al-Mousa, Professor of Jurisprudence and Its Principles and Islamic Economics, and Financial Consultant in Kuwait, who served as the internal examiner; in addition to Dr. Abdulqader Abdulatif Ola, Professor of Jurisprudence and Its Principles and Islamic Economics and Finance in Nigeria, who served as the external examiner.

This achievement is considered an important milestone in the researcher's journey and reflects the efforts made in the field of Islamic banking.
