Graduate Studies Deanship Holds PhD Research Proposal Seminar in Qur’anic Studies

The Graduate Studies Deanship at the Islamic University of Minnesota (Main Center), represented by the College of Islamic Studies and the Department of Qur’an and Its Sciences, hosted a significant academic event in the form of a PhD research proposal seminar.

The seminar was held on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at 9:00 PM Makkah time via the Zoom virtual platform.

The research proposal, titled “Causal Interpretation in Tafsir according to Al-Shanqiti – A Case Study of Surah Al-Baqarah,” prepared by researcher Ibtehal Farhan Mahmoud, addressed a precise and important topic in the field of Qur’anic exegesis and the methodology of the scholar Al-Imam Muhammad Al-Amin Al-Shanqiti.

The proposal was examined by a distinguished academic committee chaired by Prof. Dr. Abdulrazzaq Al-Bakri, Dean of the College of Islamic Studies, with membership including: Assist. Prof. Dr. Hind Al-Ashmawi, Dr. Abeer Issa, Dr. Abdulrahman Hejan, Dr. Khalid Al-Nana’ah, and Dr. Mahmoud Othman.

The Graduate Studies Deanship affirmed the university’s commitment to supporting original and in-depth research in Islamic studies and to producing distinguished researchers who contribute to enriching the Islamic scholarly library and advancing scientific knowledge.
