Doctoral Dissertation Defense on Impact of Reconciliation and Penal Orders
The Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at the Islamic University of Minnesota - Main Center organized a doctoral dissertation defense in the Department of Law at the College of Sharia and Law, titled: “The Impact of Reconciliation and Penal Orders on the Termination of Criminal Proceedings under the Egyptian and Saudi Legislations: A Comparative Analytical Study.” The event was held as part of the university’s academic programs aimed at supporting scientific research and promoting comparative legal studies.
The dissertation was presented by researcher Nabeel Sayed Ahmed Alwan Al-Kashef from the Arab Republic of Egypt. His study examined the legal dimensions of reconciliation and penal orders and their role in terminating criminal proceedings, offering a comparative analytical review of the Egyptian and Saudi legal systems to highlight areas of convergence and divergence and their implications for achieving criminal justice.
The defense committee consisted of Associate Professor Dr. Mohammed Du’ Fadil, faculty member at the Islamic University of Minnesota, serving as supervisor and rapporteur; Associate Professor Dr. Mohammed Shoaib Abdulmaqsood, Head of the Department of Law at the university, as internal examiner; and Dr. Alaa Ahmed Sobhi, faculty member at the Islamic University of Minnesota, as external examiner.
The defense took place on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. (Makkah time) via Zoom, and was attended by a number of academics, researchers, and individuals interested in legal studies. The session reflected the university’s commitment to fostering rigorous scientific research and supporting graduate students in their academic journey.
