The Research and Studies Center at the Islamic University of Minnesota - Main Center, organized on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, a scientific seminar titled: "From Al-Muḥarrir and Ibn al-Bawwāb to Yaqut al-Musta‘simi: The Biography and Journey of Arabic Calligraphy Pioneers in Islamic Civilization," held via the Zoom platform, with participation from a distinguished group of enthusiasts of Islamic arts.
The seminar was presented by Dr. Nadia Hisham Adli, who traced the development of Arabic calligraphy across the ages, highlighting the contributions of prominent calligraphers and their role in shaping the aesthetic identity of Islamic civilization.
The session also explored the biographies of leading figures in the art, including Ibn al-Bawwāb and Yaqut al-Musta‘simi, emphasizing their artistic and scholarly legacy that helped develop the rules of Arabic calligraphy and establish its aesthetic standards.
The seminar addressed methodologies for applying scientific research to the study of artistic heritage and presenting information in innovative, structured ways to serve researchers in this field.
