"Ramadan Investment": Workshop Presents an Innovative Economic Vision for Managing Spiritual Capital

As part of its academic programs conducted during the holy month of Ramadan, the Center for Research and Studies at the Islamic University of Minnesota (Main Campus) held a scientific workshop on Monday evening, March 3, 2026 (corresponding to Ramadan 13, 1447 AH), titled: "Ramadan Investment: An Economic Vision for Managing Spiritual Capital." The event was attended by a number of students and interested participants from both within and outside the university.
The workshop was presented by Dr. Fida Mansour Al-Jawhari, who proposed an integrated framework for transforming Ramadan from a season of consumerism into an investment opportunity. This approach focuses on managing time and effort as crucial assets, alongside re-engineering consumption patterns and reducing waste.
The workshop covered multiple tracks, including diversifying the "spiritual portfolio" through acts of worship and measuring the return on faith-based investment (ROI). Additionally, it provided practical mechanisms for regulating expenditure and redirecting it toward sustainable charitable projects, thereby sustaining the impact of Ramadan throughout the year.
The session was moderated by Dr. Shaimaa Khattab, Director of the Center for Research and Studies, who facilitated the discussion and highlighted the practical applications of the concepts presented.
This workshop aligns with the Center's ongoing efforts to provide innovative perspectives that bridge economic concepts with spiritual values, contributing to fostering a balanced awareness among students and the wider academic community.
