Department of Law Holds Its First Meeting After Return of Its Chairman

The Department of Law at the College of Sharia and Law at the Islamic University of Minnesota, chaired by Dr. Mohammed Shuaib Abdulmaqsoud, held its first meeting after his return to his position on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 8:00 PM Mecca time. The meeting was attended by Dean Dr. Muzahem Tariq Al-Mustafa, along with a number of faculty members in the department.

The meeting discussed several key topics related to the department's work plan, including compensatory lectures, improving the quality of lectures, recording midterm exam grades, and proposals for developing the academic curriculum. Emphasis was placed on the importance of using university email as the primary means of communication, adhering to the academic plan and prerequisites for each course, and ensuring consistency between grade sheets and the university's online portal.

Dr. Mohammed Shuaib stressed the need to follow up on recording midterm exam grades and assignments (homework, research, and case studies) through the university's website, complying with the instructions issued by the Control Affairs Unit, and submitting exams on time.

Attendees agreed on the importance of the department chair monitoring the educational process during the semester, increasing student interaction by encouraging them to turn on their cameras during lectures, and discussing legal issues with them. They also agreed to follow up on compensatory lectures, implement proposals for modifying the department's academic plan, update the college's webpage, and add faculty members to the university's portal.

Regarding students, the meeting emphasized the importance of training them in scientific research skills and legal drafting, as well as preparing them for the job market in coordination with the Legal Affairs Department.

In addition to the dean and the department chair, the meeting was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Daw Fadhil, Dr. Amir Khalifa, Dr. Ahmed Al-Nabihi, Dr. Mohammed Nasr, Dr. Musab Al-Hashemi, Dr. Mohammed Abdulhafidh Jad, Dr. Emad Hamdi Al-Buhairi, Dr. Ayman Al-Khalayleh, Dr. Osama Mohammed Abulfutuh, Assistant Professor Dr. Fuad Ghajati, Ms. Basant Shuaib Abdumaqsoud, and Ms. Maryam Al-Maqrami, the college's administrative affairs officer.
