Researcher Mohammed Sayed Awarded PhD in Jurisprudence

A scientific committee from the Department of Jurisprudence and Its Principles recommended awarding researcher Mohammed Samir Abdulrahman Sayed a PhD degree following the discussion of his thesis titled "Jurisprudential Rules Related to Facilitation and Alleviation of Hardship and Their Applications in the Fields of Artificial Intelligence." The discussion was chaired by Dr. Salah Ahmed Faraj, Head of the Department of Jurisprudence and Its Principles, and supervised by the Deanship of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research at the main center of the Islamic University of Minnesota.

The defense session was held in person at the Al-Joud Hotel in Makkah on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 4:00 PM Mecca time, in the presence of the scientific committee members and several interested attendees. The discussion committee consisted of Dr. Mustafa Ahmed Mohammed Hussein, supervisor and rapporteur; Dr. Juma Hashem Al-Ashram, faculty member at the Islamic University of Minnesota, as an internal examiner; and Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Wardi, faculty member at the Islamic University of Minnesota, as an external examiner.

The committee praised the significance of the researcher’s work, which addressed jurisprudential rules related to facilitation and alleviation of hardship and their applications in the field of artificial intelligence. They emphasized that the study demonstrated scientific depth and innovation in linking jurisprudence with modern technology.

In a statement, Dr. Omar Al-Maqrami, Vice President of the University and Head of the Main Center, expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to the management of Al-Joud Hotel in Makkah for facilitating the in-person defense event.
