Meeting of  Department of Fiqh

Associate Professor Dr. Salah Ahmed Farraj, Head of the Department of Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh at the Islamic University of Minnesota, and his deputy, Dr. Jihan Al-Taher Mohammed, held a departmental meeting on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 10 PM Mecca time, attended by several faculty members.

The meeting began with a welcoming address from the department head, during which preparations for the summer semester exams and the distribution of courses for the upcoming semester were discussed. Several topics related to curriculum development and enhancing the quality of the educational process within the department were also addressed.

Dr. Salah Farraj emphasized the essential role of faculty members in the success of the educational process. The discussion included forming a committee for the preparation of the university textbook, effective supervision of academic theses, and equitable distribution of course schedules and materials in line with academic excellence and scientific developments.

The meeting explored methods for receiving faculty preferences regarding suitable materials and times while considering rotation and alleviating the burden on those who taught during the summer semester.

The meeting concluded with several recommendations, including initiating work on the university textbook, committing to rigorous academic supervision, enhancing transparency in the distribution of schedules, and fostering collaboration and coordination among faculty members for the benefit of the department and students.

In closing, the department head and his deputy expressed their gratitude to Dr. Muzahim Tareq Al-Mustafa, Dean of the College, for his continuous support and presence, as well as thanking the attending faculty for their constructive participation and interaction, highlighting the importance of teamwork within the department.
