Dean of College of Sharia Emphasizes the Importance of Introductory Meetings for New Students

Doctor Muzahem Tariq Al-Mustafa, the Dean of the College of Sharia and Law at the Islamic University of Minnesota, emphasized the importance of holding regular introductory meetings with new students by departments and faculty members. These meetings aim to clarify the study system and evaluation methods, contributing to the effective integration of students into the university environment from the start of their academic journey.
This statement came during the regular meeting of the College Council, which he chaired on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 10:00 PM Mecca time. The meeting discussed academic and organizational issues related to the development of the educational process within the college.
The dean opened the meeting with a welcoming speech, expressing his appreciation for the efforts of department heads, faculty members, and administrative staff, praising their academic performance during previous semesters, which positively reflected on the college's outcomes and its students.
The council approved amendments to its administrative structure to align with current changes and the needs of the upcoming phase, aiming to enhance the efficiency of academic work and ensure its continuity.
The attendees discussed the state of education in the three departments: Jurisprudence and Its Principles, Law, and Judicial and Legal Policy. They emphasized the importance of regularizing the educational process, completing the preparations for faculty members, and implementing the revised curricula to achieve the desired academic quality.
The council reviewed the stages of developing the approved courses at the university and directed to accelerate the updating of scientific content to keep pace with knowledge changes and meet student needs in various disciplines.
The council urged department heads to encourage academic staff to participate in scientific activities, including publishing in the college's refereed journal, delivering public lectures, and contributing to the university's newspaper, "Sada Al-Jamia," along with other events that enhance the college's academic presence at the university and beyond.
In conclusion, the dean called for continued teamwork and strengthening institutional cooperation among all college units to fulfill its mission of preparing distinguished legal and Sharia competencies that serve the community and align with the university's aspirations.
