Ceremony to Honor Exemplary Students

Under the patronage of Dr. Zainab Basyouni, Deputy Dean and Director of Student Affairs, and in the presence of Dr. Omar Al-Maqrami, Dean of the Islamic University of Minnesota and Head of the Main Center, the Undergraduate Student Affairs Unit and the Graduate Student Affairs Unit held a ceremony to honor students awarded the title of "Exemplary Student" for the first semester. The event took place on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 9:00 PM Mecca time.

Recognition of Strong Will and Good Conduct 

The celebration began with an opening speech by Mr. Suleiman Maqbool, Director of Undergraduate Student Affairs, who emphasized that honoring exemplary students is not just a celebration but a recognition of strong will, academic excellence, and good conduct. He clarified that success is the result of hard work and commitment, praising the moment of recognition as a culmination of the efforts of students who chose excellence to be role models for their peers.

Ms. Omaima Adel, Director of Graduate Student Affairs, expressed her happiness at the event, noting the attendance of everyone to honor the students who have worked hard in their studies and distinguished themselves through their character. She addressed the honorees, saying, "It is a great honor to be among you today; you embody the values of diligence and dedication, and your excellence is an example for all your peers."

Generation Embracing the Mission of Knowledge 

In his speech, Dr. Omar Al-Maqrami congratulated all students on the completion of the first semester's academic lectures, giving special congratulations to the exemplary students. He praised their efforts and successes, affirming that the university hosts the best faculty and administrative staff to support them in their educational journey.

The Dean encouraged students to elevate their ambitions and work hard, emphasizing that the university strives to provide the educational process in the best possible ways, aiming to cultivate a generation that is beneficial and influential in their communities and proudly represents the university in the fields of knowledge and education.

Strategy for Creating the Model 

Dr. Zainab Basyouni, the Deputy Dean and Director of Student Affairs, congratulated the exemplary students and emphasized the university's ongoing commitment to supporting and encouraging them to achieve the best possible outcomes. She highlighted the implementation of a strategy aimed at making students role models to be proud of on a global scale.

Dr. Mazahim Tariq Al-Mustafa, Dean of the Sharia College, affirmed that all students are distinguished, but some excel within the circle of excellence, adding, "With you, the university grows and takes pride."

Determination and Resolve 

In her speech, Dr. Sherin Mamoun, Dean of the College of Economics, praised the success of the students, which reflects their determination to overcome challenges. She expressed her gratitude to Dr. Zainab and Mr. Sulaiman Maqbool, Director of Undergraduate Student Affairs, for their efforts. She also commended Ms. Benan Saif Al-Maqrami and Ms. Doha for their continuous support of the students.

Dr. Jumana Al-Kharashi emphasized that every diligent individual deserves recognition, noting the difficulties involved in their efforts, but stating that the outcomes are worth the struggle. Dr. Moayed Zidan from the Law Department congratulated the exemplary students, saying, "With you, we rise and progress," expressing appreciation for the efforts of both students and faculty.

Special Mentions 

The ceremony included special acknowledgments from several faculty members. Dr. Taha Al-Juhari, Head of the Department of Da'wah and Islamic Culture, congratulated the students in his department, specifically recognizing Mr. Zohair. Dr. Nabila Masoud, Head of the Early Childhood Department, mentioned students Sumaya and Al-Hanouf as outstanding. Dr. Talaat Al-Dardeer recognized master's students Abdullah Mohammed Naqed Al-Haj and Majid Mahmoud Mousa Al-Adrousi. Dr. Youssef Bani Younes praised student Khaled Mohammed Al-Faqih for his character and diligence, while Dr. Riya Youssef Khalil emphasized that Khaled serves as a role model among his peers.

 Responses from the Exemplary Students 

The event was marked by thank-you messages from the exemplary students. Student Abdulfattah Ali expressed his gratitude and appreciation to all those who supported him, affirming that this recognition is a result of their collective efforts. Similarly, student Sami Al-Beshri sent a message of thanks to the university's Dean and the Dean of the College of Computing, expressing pride in belonging to a university that has always been a home of knowledge and creativity.

Through this, the Islamic University of Minnesota continues to promote values of excellence and diligence, fostering a spirit of positive competition among its students.
