Islamic University Honors 128 Outstanding Students for Second Semester
In support of academic excellence and in reinforcement of the values of discipline and positive university conduct, the Islamic University of Minnesota - Main Center - represented by the Undergraduate Students Affairs Unit at the Deanship of Student Affairs, organized a ceremony to honor outstanding students for the second semester. The event was held on Sunday, February 16, 2026, in the presence of several university leaders, members of the academic and administrative staff, and a number of students.
During the ceremony, 128 male and female students from various colleges and departments of the university were honored in recognition of their academic excellence and exemplary conduct, serving as role models in combining scholarly achievement with strong ethical values both within and beyond the university community.
The event was attended by the University Vice President and Head of the Main Center, Dr. Omar Al-Maqrami, and the Deputy Vice President and Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Zainab Basyouni, in addition to several college deans, department heads, and directors of academic and administrative units.
In her speech during the ceremony, Dr. Zainab Basyouni emphasized that this recognition comes in appreciation of the efforts of the exemplary students who have demonstrated that excellence is the result of diligence and perseverance. She noted that the university’s students represent promising talents capable of making a meaningful impact and contributing to their communities through both knowledge and upright conduct.
For his part, the Director of the Undergraduate Students Affairs Unit, Mr. Suleiman Maqbool, explained that the ceremony reflects the university’s commitment to motivating its distinguished students and highlighting successful models that combine academic excellence with adherence to the university’s values and regulations. He added that such recognition serves as a strong incentive for students to continue their path of achievement and distinction.
The ceremony also included congratulatory remarks from several academic and administrative leaders, who praised the honored students and affirmed that their achievements reflect dedication and hard work while promoting a culture of positive competition among students.
Several of the honored students expressed their happiness with this recognition, considering it a motivation to continue striving for excellence. They also extended their appreciation to the university administration and faculty members for their continuous support and for providing an educational environment that encourages success.
According to the report issued by the Undergraduate Students Affairs Unit, the outstanding students represented various colleges of the university. The College of Computer Science and Information Technology ranked first with 34 students, followed by the College of Economics and Business Administration with 22 students, and the College of Educational Sciences with 20 students. Other notable representations came from the Colleges of Islamic Studies, Arts and Humanities, Media and Public Relations, and other academic departments.
The ceremony concluded with an affirmation that this recognition forms part of the university’s efforts to strengthen the culture of academic excellence and to build a well-rounded university student who combines knowledge, ethics, and social responsibility, while aspiring to achieve further successes in the university’s educational journey.
