Training Course on "Scientific Research: Developing Research Skills - Realities and Challenges"

The Training and Development Center for Community Programs at the Islamic University of Minnesota organized a major training course titled "Scientific Research: Developing Research Skills - Realities and Challenges." The lecturers included Dr. Anas Ridhwan, the Director of Quranic Studies Center in Dubai and an International Judge in Quran Memorization Competition, Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Sharbeeni Saqr from Sultan Ahmad Shah University in Malaysia, and Professor Dr. Mohammed Ali Ismail, the Director of the Scientific Research Unit at the Islamic University of Minnesota – Main Center.

The first lecture, delivered by Dr. Anas Ridhwan, was titled "Scientific Research: Methodology and Preparation". It took place on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM Mecca time. The lecture covered the definition of scientific research, its characteristics and motivations, research ethics, research methods, steps and planning, data collection from various sources, and research writing according to the methodology and research formulation.

The second lecture, held on Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM Mecca time, was titled "Issues Related to Scientific Research" and was presented by Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Saqr, Professor at Sultan Ahmad Shah University in Malaysia. The lecture discussed several issues such as the difference between scientific research and authorship, the importance of choosing a research topic, dealing with texts in scientific research, common mistakes in scientific research writing, and the expert and creative researcher.

The third and final lecture, titled "Scientific Gap and Scientific Contribution," was delivered by Dr. Mohammed Ali Ismail, the Director of the Scientific Research Unit at the Islamic University of Minnesota. It was held on Thursday, March 1, 2024, from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM Mecca time. The lecture addressed the scientific gap, its importance in scientific research, how to identify and discover it, as well as scientific contribution through research and innovation. The significance of original research and creativity in promoting scientific and societal progress was highlighted.

A large number of students, researchers, and academics from various scientific disciplines participated in the training course. The course was well organized, providing a suitable learning environment for the participants. The attendees benefited from valuable information and skills to develop their research capabilities and enhance their understanding of the scientific research process and its challenges.
