University Provost Welcomes University President and Delegation in Ankara

On Monday, May 27, 2024, Dr. Omar Al-Maqrami, Provost of the Islamic University of Minnesota, welcomed Dr. Walid Al-Menisi, President of the university, and his accompanying delegation to the university's office in Ankara, Turkey.

The delegation included Mr. Mohammed Arab, Executive Director of the University's Endowment and Human Development Fund (HDF), Mr. Abdulrahman Kariye, Head of the Relief Projects Department at the HDF, and Engineer Yousef Ali.

The meeting discussed several university-related matters, including coordination mechanisms and the university's ongoing efforts to obtain accreditation from the YOK Higher Education Council. The discussion also explored potential support for these endeavors.

Dr. Mustafa Alton Kaya, Head of the Turkish Branch (a Turkish-language branch of the university), and Mr. Mustafa Nurhan, Head of Technical Affairs at the branch, were present at the meeting.

Earlier, on Thursday, May 23, 2024, Dr. Al-Maqrami visited Mr. Vasip Sahin, Governor of Ankara, accompanied by Professor Al-Menisi and Professor Mustafa Kaya. They held a meeting with the Governor in his office, attended by the Provost of the University Accreditation Institution in Turkey (YOK) and several graduates of the Islamic University of Minnesota. Governor Sahin expressed his willingness to cooperate with the university in its efforts to obtain YOK accreditation for degree equivalency and praised a doctoral thesis by one of the university's graduates.

It is worth noting that Professor Al-Menisi, President of the university, arrived in Ankara, Turkey, from Minnesota, USA, on May 22, 2024, to participate in a workshop held on Friday and Saturday, May 24 and 25, in collaboration between the Islamic University of Minnesota, Inonu University, Ankara University of Science and Technology, and the Çankaya Municipality of Ankara.
