University Vice President Meets with Deputy Speaker of Turkish Parliament

Ankara, June 7, 2024: Dr. Omar Al-Maqrami, Vice President and Head of the Main Center of the Islamic University Minnesota, met with Mr. Aydın Demiröz, First Deputy Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, in Ankara on Friday, June 7, 2024.

The meeting came within the framework of the university's efforts to obtain accreditation from the Turkish Ministry of Higher Education (YÖK). It was preceded by a special visit by Al-Maqrami, accompanied by Dr. Mustafa Altunkaya, Head of the Turkish Branch, to the headquarters of the Turkish Parliament.

Al-Maqrami described the meeting as fruitful, where the Turkish official was introduced to Minnesota Islamic University and its programs, and discussed the accreditation file that the university is seeking from the YÖK Council.

It was also agreed to arrange a meeting with the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Mr. Numan Kurtulmuş, in the framework of supporting the university to obtain YÖK accreditation.
