University Vice President Holds Extended Meeting to Discuss Preparations for First Semester

Minnesota, June 27, 2024 - Dr. Omar Al-Maqrami, Vice President of the Islamic University of Minnesota and Head of the Main Center, held an extended meeting with the university's administrative staff on Thursday, June 27, 2024.

The meeting focused on discussing the ongoing preparations for the first semester of the upcoming academic year. The progress of these preparations was assessed, and challenges and solutions were discussed.

Dr. Al-Maqrami emphasized the importance of preparing course groups, ensuring the addition of professors, verifying their contact information with the Dean of Student Affairs, and confirming the delivery of curricula to both professors and students. He also stressed the need to match student lists with the academic system's online portal and finalize schedules in coordination with the Virtual Classrooms Unit and department heads.

Administrative staff discussed various obstacles and suggestions with the Vice President, including the issue of available space on Google Drive and the need for coordination between the Administrative Affairs Unit and the Educational Affairs Unit to facilitate the educational process.

The meeting also addressed the issue of active and inactive faculty members, with the recommendation that scientific discussions and training be limited to active professors. It was also suggested that faculty members be monitored through reports on compensatory lectures and attendance.

Mr. Sulaiman Maqbool praised all units, while Dr. Jumana Al-Kharashi described the Educational Affairs Unit's situation as excellent, highlighting the importance of conducting a survey to evaluate faculty members by students at the end of each semester.

Mr. Mohammed Abduljawad confirmed that the schedules for the first semester are almost ready and are being reviewed by department heads. He also mentioned the problem of internet and electricity outages in some countries and temporary solutions to these problems.

Dr. Sonia Al-Sheikh expressed her support for the proposal of "two courses per day for students in each stage," noting the need to consider specialization when dealing with university staff.

Ali Mustafa, her deputy; Dr. Sonia Al-Sheikh, Director of Registration at the Admissions and Registration Dean's Office; and Mr. Taher Alwan, a member of Educational Affairs.
