On Thursday, October 24, 2024, the College of Economics and Business at the Islamic University of Minnesota published the first issue of the first volume of the peer-reviewed journal "Journal of Economics and Business." The issue, which spans 221 pages, includes a table of contents, the name of the journal, and an overview that covers the vision, mission, disciplines, and objectives. It also features a list of the editorial board, the advisory committee, and the reviewers, along with a message from the editor-in-chief and the publishing rules and guidelines.
The issue contains six research papers, five of which are in Arabic and one in English. Among these papers are: "The Effectiveness of Media in Enhancing Economic Security in Society" by Dr. Hiyam Sami Al-Zoubi, "The Contribution of Islamic Banking to Achieving Economic Development" by Dr. Raed Hasan Mohammed Bani Issa, "The Role of the Insurance Sector in Activating Economic Development in Algeria" by researchers Imran Shaaban Al-Hadi Haroun and Professor Laila Ayad, "Evaluation and Optimization of ARIMA Models for Time Series Analysis in Saudi Arabian Financial, Insurance, and Commercial Services" by Dr. Abuthr Yousef Ali Ahmed, "The Role of Forensic Accounting Techniques in Reducing Earnings Management Practices in Financial Statements: A Field Study on a Sample of Publicly Listed Companies in the Khartoum Stock Exchange" by Dr. Sherin Mamoun Said Ahmed and Dr. Mohammed Qureshi Al-Zain Hassan, and "The Impact of Currency Value Changes on Rights and Obligations: A Comparative Study" by researcher A. The "Journal of Economics and Business" is a peer-reviewed scientific journal that is published quarterly and focuses on disseminating articles in the fields of economics, management, and accounting. The journal aims to enhance knowledge in these areas by publishing original research in both Arabic and English. The editorial board is chaired by Dr. Sherin Mamoun Said Ahmed, the dean of the college, with Dr. Hiyam Sami Al-Zoubi as the managing editor. The board consists of 11 academics from various disciplines. The advisory committee includes eight academics, chaired by Dr. Omar Ahmad Al-Maqrami, the university vice president, while the reviewers' committee comprises 23 academics, four of whom are from outside the university. This publication follows the release of the first issue of the "Journal of Islamic Studies" by the College of Islamic Studies a week earlier, and it is anticipated that other colleges will also launch their own peer-reviewed journals in the near future.
