Islamic University of Minnesota Celebrates Graduation of New Cohort in Djibouti

The Islamic University of Minnesota, East Africa branch, held a graduation ceremony for a group of its graduates in the sister Republic of Djibouti, attended by Dr. Omar Ahmed Al-Maqrami, the university’s Vice President, Dr. Zainab Basyouni, the Deputy Vice President, and Dr. Muzahem Tariq Al-Mustafa, Dean of the College of Sharia. The ceremony took place on Monday, June 30, 2025, in an atmosphere of joy, where feelings of happiness, pride, and achievement were intertwined after the students successfully completed their educational journey.
In his speech, Dr. Omar Ahmed Al-Maqrami expressed the faculty's pride in the students' accomplishments. Dr. Zainab Basyouni also delivered a speech emphasizing the graduates' role in building a bright future for their communities. Dr. Muzahem Al-Mustafa, Dean of the College of Sharia and Law, concluded the ceremony by congratulating the students and their families on this significant achievement and urging them to continue their pursuit of knowledge and serve their nations.
A source from the event organizers stated that the ceremony was not just a routine celebration but carried a clear message that the people of East Africa possess the ambition and tools needed to make positive changes and contribute to the revival of their communities.
It is noteworthy that among the guests at the graduation ceremony were Mr. Mohammed Moussa, Director of Private Education at the Djiboutian Ministry of Education, and Mr. Abdulrahman Mohammed Ali, Head of the Fatwa Authority in Djibouti.
