Deputy Dean Emphasizes Importance of Monitoring Attendance

The Deputy Dean of the Islamic University of Minnesota, Dr. Zainab Basyouni, praised the procedures followed by the university administration in monitoring attendance. She emphasized that these procedures reflect the academic and moral responsibility of the university towards its students, stressing that monitoring is not merely a formality, but represents a "fundamental basis for the success of the educational process."
This was stated in a letter sent by Dr. Zainab to the university's students, in response to some of their comments regarding the pressure of monitoring. She expressed her regret that some feel this matter burdensome.
Dr. Basyouni clarified that the university's message is clear, citing a verse from the Quran ("Take the book with strength"), indicating the necessity of a serious commitment to knowledge.
She also affirmed that the university considers students partners in responsibility, and that the actions it takes are a fulfillment of trust and a commitment to not waste their time, emphasizing the importance of education as an obligation, not a privilege.
She concluded her letter by stressing that commitment to education is the way to success, and that those who do not commit today may lose opportunities for success tomorrow.
