Deputy Dean: Student Evaluation System Through Online Portal is Excellent

Doctor Zainab Ali Basyouni, the Deputy Dean of the Islamic University of Minnesota, expressed her satisfaction with the current system for evaluating students via the online portal, describing it as "very excellent" and achieving several key goals, including accommodating student levels, standardizing procedures, and ensuring fairness and transparency in grading. She added that it helps reduce the burden on faculty members, allowing them to fully engage in their academic role in preparing and grading exams electronically if they are objective, while the professor handles grading essay exams.

Dr. Zainab's remarks came after an open discussion held by the main group of the university community on WhatsApp, where opinions were exchanged about the techniques and methods used in student evaluation. Opinions varied between supporters of the evaluation system and critics of aspects they see as lacking, focusing on evaluation techniques that rely on automated methods for objective tests, in addition to the manual grading method for essay exams.

The Deputy Dean expressed her happiness with the discussion, describing it as wonderful, and thanked the faculty members for their valuable feedback and suggestions that reflect their commitment to improving the educational process. She emphasized that any new system requires a period for adjustment and practice, noting that the cooperation and experience of faculty members will make the evaluation system smoother and more effective.

Several academics participated in the discussion, including Dr. Yousef Bani Younis, Dean of the College of Developmental Studies, Dr. Nourhan Salama, Dean of Faculty Affairs, and several faculty members from various departments, reflecting the university's interest in promoting academic dialogue and developing educational performance.
