Islamic University of Minnesota Launches Center for Research and Studies to Enhance the Path of Scientific Research
As part of its efforts to support scientific research and advance the paths of knowledge, the Islamic University of Minnesota – Main Center – announced on Sunday, September 21, 2025, the inauguration of the Center for Research and Studies. The center is set to become a pioneering academic platform that contributes to the advancement of scientific research and opens new horizons for creativity and innovation.
According to the University’s Media Center, the center will be managed by a distinguished team of academics and experts, headed by Dr. Shaimaa Khattab, Director of the Center, along with:
- Dr. Mousa Mohammed Al-Daw, Deputy Director and Research Supervisor for the College of Media.
- Dr. Abdulmaboud Ismail, Research Supervisor for the College of Islamic Studies.
- Dr. Sara Al-Mahadin, Research Supervisor for the College of Educational Sciences.
- Dr. Jihan Al-Taher, Research Supervisor for the College of Sharia and Law.
- Dr. Mohammed Younis, Research Supervisor for the College of Economics and Business Administration.
- Dr. Siham Abdulbaqi, Research Supervisor for the College of Arts and Humanities.
- Dr. Salman Zakaria, Research Supervisor for male students of the College of Computer Science.
- Dr. Bushra Shareef, Research Supervisor for female students of the College of Computer Science.
The University administration affirmed that the center constitutes a fundamental pillar in supporting research and studies that serve society and meet the requirements of the modern era, under the motto: “Together Towards a Future Flourishing with Knowledge, Where the Banner of Research and Innovation Rises High.”
The inauguration of the center was met with wide engagement within the university. Dr.
Omar Al-Muqrami, Vice President of the University, expressed his pride in this step, describing the center as “a beacon for scientific research in various fields.” Meanwhile, Dr. Zeinab Bassiouni, Deputy Vice President, described the center as “a lighthouse for knowledge and creativity, and a launch towards a future enriched with knowledge and leadership.”
For his part, Dr. Asem Hassan Mohammed Jabra from the Department of Accounting considered the center “a genuine investment in the future of knowledge, and a gateway to creating a scientific impact that serves generations and communities.” Professor Abdulbaqi Al-Qattan, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Arts and Humanities, also congratulated the team, praising the efforts of Dr. Shaimaa Khattab, Director of the Center, and wishing success to all those involved.
The Center for Research and Studies represents a qualitative addition to the university’s journey, dedicated to promoting a culture of scientific research, supporting researchers and students, and producing knowledge that meets societal needs and keeps pace with global transformations. It reinforces the university’s pioneering role in serving humanity and enriching thought.
The new center complements six other centers already established at the university, including: the Center for Dawah, the Center for Training, Development, and Community Programs, the Center for Languages and Translation, the Center for Manuscripts and Heritage Studies, the Center for Academic Studies, and the Center for Latin American Studies.
