Yemeni Preacher Al-Maqrami Passes Away After Life Dedicated to Da‘wah

The religious and educational community in Yemen and beyond mourned the passing of Yemeni preacher and engineer Mohammed Al-Maqrami, who died at dawn on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, in Jeddah while preparing for the Fajr prayer. His death came at the end of a preaching journey that included Turkey, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia. He was laid to rest in the Holy Land in a deeply emotional ceremony attended by family, students, and admirers.

The Islamic University of Minnesota - Main Center issued an official statement expressing sincere condolences to scholars, students, and followers of Al-Maqrami, asking Allah Almighty to grant him His mercy. The statement described him as a model of sincerity and devotion, dedicating his life to serving the Qur’an and calling people to Allah.

Dr. Omar Al-Maqrami, Vice President of the university and head of the main campus, paid tribute to the late preacher, highlighting his lifelong efforts to instill faith and certainty in the hearts of people. He shared one of Al-Maqrami’s final messages, which he described as a farewell: “If we die, we will meet in Paradise, God willing… Be careful, my children, do not lose your way.”

Preaching Journey That Ended in a Blessed Way

According to close sources, Sheikh Al-Maqrami traveled from Aden to Istanbul to participate in the recording of a religious program sponsored by the Yemeni Ministry of Endowments, titled “Yemenis Around the Prophet”, which is scheduled to air during the upcoming Ramadan. He then continued to Egypt and Saudi Arabia, performing Umrah and visiting Madinah, before passing away in Jeddah-marking the end of a journey that combined preaching, worship, and a blessed conclusion.

Outpouring of Condolences and Mourning

Following the news of his death, social media platforms became a hub of mourning, with thousands of messages from scholars, preachers, students, and young followers expressing deep grief. Tributes included poems, prose, and video clips of his sermons and lectures, demonstrating the wide impact of his preaching across Yemen and internationally.

On the ground, large condolence gatherings were held in his hometown of Al-Maqarima and across Yemeni cities. Funeral prayers in absentia were also performed in several countries, including China, reflecting the widespread admiration and respect for Sheikh Al-Maqrami.

From Engineering to Da‘wah

Born in 1960 in Al-Maqarima village, Sheikh Al-Maqrami developed a deep love for the Qur’an from an early age. He later studied electrical engineering at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. After working as a maintenance engineer at Al-Hodeidah Airport, he chose to dedicate his life to preaching. Traveling across villages and valleys, he touched countless hearts with his sincere and simple style, combining deep faith with practical guidance.

Lasting Legacy

With the growth of digital media, Sheikh Al-Maqrami’s teachings and reflections spread through his YouTube channels, leaving a lasting preaching legacy that continues to inspire people even after his passing.

While Sheikh Mahammed Al-Maqrami’s life has ended, his message, approach, and voice remain, standing as a testament to a man who devoted his life to calling people to Allah and passed away on the path he loved.
