Islamic University Welcomes New Students and Launches Official Website

On Wednesday, December 6, 2023, the Islamic University of Minnesota - Main Center held a special ceremony to welcome new students for the second semester of the 2023-2024 academic year and to inaugurate the official English-language website. The event took place at 8:00 PM Mecca time and was attended by a wide audience of around 200 participants, including college deans, department heads, directors of departments, faculty members, and students.

The ceremony was hosted on a virtual Zoom platform, with Dr. Abdu Nasr Abdulwahab delivering the opening remarks in Arabic and Dr. Wafa'a Al-Damardash delivering them in English on behalf of His Excellency Dr. Omar bin Ahmed Al-Maqrami, the Vice President of the Islamic University of Minnesota - Main Center.

The ceremony included various official and interactive segments. Dr. Mazahem Mustafa, the Dean of the College of Sharia and Law, delivered a speech commending the university's efforts in developing the website and facilitating access to its services and benefits for students, learners, and faculty members. He welcomed the new students, wishing them success in their educational journey. Subsequently, Mr. Sulaiman Maqboul, the Head of Student Affairs, addressed the new students, highlighting the advantages of the educational system at the Islamic University of Minnesota - Main Campus, particularly regarding attendance and academic monitoring.

During the ceremony, the official launch of the university's website was announced. Dr. Salah Alawi Hussein Al-Sharafi, the Director of the IT Department, delivered a speech in Arabic, while Dr. Yasmin Abu Shabanah, the Director of the Graduate Studies Department, provided the English translation. The speeches were followed by video presentations showcasing the most important educational and academic programs and services offered by the university through the website and other e-learning platforms.

Dr. Abdu Nasr Abdulwahab and Dr. Wafa'a Al-Damardash concluded the ceremony by expressing gratitude and appreciation on behalf of the university to the IT Department, the website team, and the university's media center for their dedicated efforts in designing, preparing, and producing the website and organizing the event.
