Islamic University Prepares for End-of-Summer Semester Exams and Looks Ahead to the New Academic Year


 

Minnesota, June 1, 2024:  The Islamic University of Minnesota (Main Center) is preparing for the end-of-summer semester exams and looking ahead to the new academic year 2024-2025 through a series of meetings at the college and department levels.

College of Economics and Business Administration: 

The Dean of the College, Dr. Shireen Ma'moun, held a meeting with heads of departments, deputies, and faculty members on May 31, 2024, to discuss preparations for the final exams and arrange the course schedules for the first semester of the new academic year. The Dean stressed the need for the course instructor to be present in the course group to clarify any ambiguity or potential inquiries from students. She also requested the instructors to promptly correct the exams and record the grades after the students finish their exams and before the deadline for recording on June 9, 2024.

College of Arts and Humanities: 

Department of Arabic Language: The Head of the Department, Dr. Osama Abdulrahman, held a meeting with faculty members on May 31, 2024. Dr. Osama stressed the need for the course instructor to be present with his students in the WhatsApp group to respond to their inquiries and deal with students as a father, not to be stingy with his time on them, and stressing that colleagues should stay with the students until the end of the exam. He also distributed the teaching costs of the subjects and courses for the next semester on the faculty members in the department according to their specific specialization.

Department of History, Civilization and Islamic Studies:  The Head of the Department, Dr. Siham Abdulbaqi, held a meeting with faculty members on May 30, 2024. They discussed evaluating the level of study in the summer semester, reminding faculty members of their duties during the exam period and beyond, and distributing the courses on the faculty fairly to ensure the effectiveness of everyone in the next semester. They also reviewed the most important achievements of the department during the academic year and opened the door for faculty members to express their opinions and suggestions.

Department of Political Science: The Head of the Department, Dr. Faiza Khattab, held an extensive meeting via Zoom on May 30, 2024. They discussed the importance of meetings and maintaining their continuity, and they touched on the exams and the need to correct them within the specified time, follow up on the recording of grades and upload them to the electronic portal correctly, and the attendees stressed the need to diversify the questions between essay and objective. At the end of the meeting, they discussed the topic of supervising scientific messages and the need to assign supervision to new members according to the academic ladder so that the student can benefit from their scientific experience.

College of Computing and Information Technology: 

The College Council, headed by Dean Dr. Munir Abdulbari, held a meeting on May 30, 2024, in the presence of council members and administrative affairs. The meeting agenda was reviewed and addressed point by point, starting with the official receipt of the tasks of the Head of the Department of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence by Dr. Mohammed Habib Al-Samkari, follow-up on course schedules, lecture reports, evaluation of faculty members, semester and final exams, solving student problems, follow-up on curricula and course references, follow-up on trustees, and student semester reports. The meeting concluded with an agreement to establish a control unit dedicated to exams in the college that can be changed every semester, an internal training unit, and to put in place appropriate circulars to communicate with the supporting administrative units, a mechanism for communicating with student affairs, a mechanism for communicating with graduate affairs, and a mechanism for communicating with faculty affairs.

It is worth noting that the Islamic University of Minnesota is preparing for the new academic year 2024-2025 by holding a series of meetings at the college and department levels to ensure the smooth and effective running of the educational process.
