Accreditations and recognition of the university

Accreditation, Licensing and Recognition:

The Islamic University of Minnesota is a registered non-profit educational institution in the State of Minnesota, United States of America, registered under EIN 80-0938606, and is tax-exempt under federal law (501(c)(3)). The University has obtained a license from the Minnesota Office of Higher Education authorizing it to offer Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral programs in multiple disciplines.

Academic Quality and International Accreditation:

The University is committed to regularly developing its programs and curricula to comply with quality standards and the requirements of international academic accreditation. It offers academic programs designed to meet the requirements of ministries of higher education in curriculum design, teaching methods, and assessment mechanisms, and awards degrees according to a credit-hour system compatible with international transfer systems. Degrees are authenticated through state and U.S. Department of State channels and by a number of embassies, granting them wide acceptance and international academic recognition.

Pursuing its global vision, the University steadily expands the international accreditation of its programs through academic agreements with various universities and educational institutions worldwide. The University has expanded its academic activities to include branches and representative offices in several countries, some of which have received formal recognition from the host countries’ ministries of higher education.

A notable recognition is the University's official recognition by the Federal Ministry of Higher Education in the Federal Republic of Somalia under license No. (WWWHTS/XAG/161/2016), issued on September 8, 2016, through its Mogadishu branch, which covers the regions: Somalia, Kenya, Djibouti, Uganda, Eritrea, and Sudan.
