International Agreements and Partnerships

The university has signed more than 50 international cooperation agreements and academic partnerships.

As part of its efforts to enhance its academic presence and achieve global recognition, the Islamic University of Minnesota has built an extensive international network of collaborations by concluding agreements and academic treaties with numerous universities, research centers, and educational institutions across Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Americas.

The total number of agreements has exceeded 50 academic agreements with universities and research centers worldwide, facilitating the exchange of expertise and broadening the scope of mutual cooperation. In its international partnerships, the university focuses on several key areas in line with its vision of global leadership in higher education, including:

  • Joint scientific research
  • Quality assurance
  • Cultural and intellectual exchange among faculty members
  • Student and academic exchange
  • Organization of conferences and seminars
  • Development of curricula and educational programs
  • Mutual recognition and degree equivalency

Among the most notable of these international agreements and partnerships are the following:

Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz University – Madinah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

An agreement was reached between the First Party, the Islamic University of Minnesota – USA, and the Second Party, Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz University – Madinah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to establish joint cooperation between them. The agreement was signed in the United States on September 24, 2024, by representatives of both parties.

Tahri Mohamed University – Béchar, Algeria

A twinning and joint cooperation agreement was concluded in the fields of research, academic development, training, and cultural exchange. The agreement was signed on March 14, 2023, by Dr. Omar Ahmed Al-Maqrami, Vice-Rector of the Islamic University of Minnesota, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Majoud, Director of Tahri Mohamed University – Béchar, Algeria, during a signing ceremony.

University of the Holy Quran and Islamic Sciences – Sudan

The Islamic University of Minnesota signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of the Holy Quran and Islamic Sciences, a public Sudanese university with legal personality and a member of both the Association of Arab Universities and the Association of African Universities.

The MoU aims to enhance joint cooperation in academic and research fields, community service, and innovation, contributing to the advancement and leadership of the Ummah. Key programs under this agreement include: development of academic and research activities, exchange and development of curricula, organization of conferences and seminars, scientific publishing, exchange of faculty and students, and training of human resources, benefiting students of both universities.

Cooperation Agreement with African French-Arabic Private University (UPAFA)

The African French-Arabic Private University (UPAFA) is a prestigious institution accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education of the Republic of Mali, recognized for excellence in educational, human, technical, and administrative disciplines.

The Islamic University of Minnesota signed a joint cooperation agreement with the University of the Holy Quran and Foundations of Sciences – Sudan to collaborate academically and in research. The agreement was signed on November 19, 2020, by Prof. Abkar Abd al-Banat Adam Ibrahim, Director of the University of the Holy Quran and Foundations of Sciences – Sudan, and Prof. Walid bin Idris Al-Menisi, President of the Islamic University of Minnesota.

Al-Azhar University

The Islamic University of Minnesota signed a cooperation agreement in the field of distance learning with Al-Azhar University, one of the world’s leading Islamic educational institutions, which is the largest Islamic university globally and the third oldest university in the world after Al-Zaytuna and Al-Qarawiyyin.

International University of Africa – Sudan

The Islamic University of Minnesota signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the International University of Africa – Sudan, an independent global institution with a unique mission and objectives.
The MoU aims to strengthen friendship, develop the relationship between the two universities, and establish international cooperation in academic and research fields. It also promotes the exchange of knowledge, e-learning resources, digital scientific materials, and the development of academic programs and plans to benefit students at both universities.

Islamic University – Kenya

The Islamic University of Minnesota signed a joint cooperation agreement with the Islamic University – Kenya, accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation. The agreement covers mutual recognition of degrees, equivalency, continuation of studies, and participation in distance learning programs. The university’s Public Relations Department established requirements for degree recognition through the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation.

University of Al-Arabi Tebessi – Algeria

The Islamic University of Minnesota signed a scientific cooperation agreement with Al-Arabi Tebessi University (Tébessa, Algeria) to strengthen academic and technological collaboration and support the scientific capacities of both institutions. Programs under this agreement include faculty and researcher exchanges and student supervision.

Martyr Hamma Lakhdar University – El Oued, Algeria

The Islamic University of Minnesota signed a cooperation agreement with Martyr Hamma Lakhdar University – El Oued, a public institution with academic, cultural, and professional activities.

The agreement focuses on collaborative research programs, faculty exchanges, joint supervision of doctoral theses, exchange of research publications, and organizing conferences and seminars to benefit students of both universities.

Faculty of Islamic Studies and Novi Pazar University – Serbia

The Islamic University of Minnesota signed cooperation agreements including mutual recognition and degree equivalency with both the Faculty of Islamic Studies in Novi Pazar and Novi Pazar International University in Serbia, both locally and internationally recognized. Under these agreements, graduates holding a Bachelor’s degree from the Islamic University of Minnesota are eligible to enroll in Master’s and then Doctoral programs at the Faculty of Islamic Studies in Islamic Studies fields, as well as at Novi Pazar International University in Islamic Economics.

Cheikh Mohamed Al-Amin Al-Shinqiti University – Mauritania

The Islamic University of Minnesota signed a cooperation agreement with Cheikh Mohamed Al-Amin Al-Shinqiti University in Nouakchott, Mauritania, a public university accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education of Mauritania.

The agreement aims to enhance academic collaboration in multiple programs, including recognition, equivalency, certifications, development and quality initiatives, media cooperation, and distance learning, benefiting students of both universities.
